Pinellas County Schools are constantly working to improve online learning. Over the past twelve years we have successfully implemented an effective credit recovery system using Novanet, Florida Virtual High School and local virtual schools. Online credit accrual has also been successful and used in a number of specific situations, including summer extended learning. We have currently established our own courses, with our own teachers customizing some of the content using open-source software. Our goal is to significantly improve cost effectiveness as well as raise achievement. Online learning for course recovery at the middle school level is also now being used on a limited basis.
